Job Summary

The Coordinator, Grassroots Program is responsible for managing the CAP’s grassroots advocacy network, PathNET, including recruiting new participants, developing and providing training materials for members, supervising and tracking member advocacy activities, administering PathNET member benefits, and encouraging member engagement.

 

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Develops short and long-range plans.
  • Works with the PAC Manager to develop and implement the annual Advocacy Calendar of grassroots and PAC outreach and activities.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing grassroots campaigns to support the federal and state advocacy agenda.
  • Responsible for managing and implementing grassroots laboratory tour program, including outreach initiatives to members of Congress through CAP members to secure lab tours and preparing CAP members to host tours.    
  • Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of the Hill Day component of CAP’s Annual Policy Meeting, including the coordination of CAP member meetings with their respective members of Congress, production and distribution of individual Hill Day schedules and information packets, and other pre-meeting planning for Days 1 and 2 of the Policy Meeting.
  • Responsible for maintaining Aristotle database, keeping membership records up to date with data from Oracle, as well as tracking of grassroots activity
  • Responsible for production of reports and spreadsheets in response to data requests.
  • Responsible for the drafting, posting, and circulation of action alerts and other communications with CAP members.
  • Provides support to Department of Legislation and Political Action by conducting research on legislation and tracking federal issues of concern to pathology and laboratory medicine.
  • Supervises the activity of the FSAC Grassroots Subcommittee.
  • Assists the Senior Director in organizing and implementing departmental advocacy activities for the CAP Annual Meeting, including developing content, assisting with the PathPAC reception, securing Policy Meeting registrations, and staffing the CAP Booth at the meeting.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field. 

Experience

  • Five years experience with trade associations, government relations, grassroots organizing, advocacy or political campaigns required. 

Travel Requirements

  •          Some travel required, approximately 10%
