The National Mining Association (NMA) is seeking a Director of Air Quality to manage the association’s programs and advocacy on federal environmental standards and regulations, primarily related to air quality. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop the technical and policy basis to support the association’s policy positions relative to federal air quality initiatives arising under the Clean Air Act;
  • Develop and execute advocacy strategy in support of policy positions;
  • Assist the association’s General Counsel in management of litigation arising from Clean Air Act regulatory proceedings;
  • Serve as principal liaison with NMA’s Air Quality Subcommittee to develop consensus positions on policy and responses to rulemaking 
  • Management of NMA’s air quality regulatory and litigation budgets.

 

Requirements

College degree required with minimum of three-years’ experience in public policy development. A law degree is preferred but not required. Knowledge of the Federal Clean Air Act, implementing regulations and source specific permitting is required. Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills are necessary. The position requires personal initiative, ability to negotiate across a wide-range of constituencies, timeliness, professional discretion and decisiveness.
