The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for a Director, Global Affairs.  ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.

 

The position is responsible for serving as an advocate and technical resource for the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) global regulatory advocacy efforts.  The position is responsible for supporting ACC’s international trade and chemical management advocacy, including managing the substance of ACC’s advocacy related to trade policy and negotiations, global chemical regulatory issues, and the implementation of international chemical agreements.  The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Global Affairs. 

Requirements

Required qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in international policy, science or public health and at least three years’ experience in a chemical or related industry and project/policy issue management; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to acquire and build effective professional relationships, and develop coalitions and alliances with diverse stakeholders; ability to design and implement strategic advocacy plans; and an understanding of regulations and policy activities that may impact business of chemistry. Master’s degree in scientific and/or technical area is strongly preferred.
