About the Office
The Office of Advance is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of Mayoral events. The office works directly with a multitude of City Hall departments and Citywide Agencies to ensure all logistical aspects of events are arranged in advance and is responsible for the management of staff at events to ensure each event runs smoothly.

About the Role
The Director of Advance directly oversees the planning and logistics for all events featuring the Mayor in New York City. The Director must be flexible in terms of his or her work schedule, work well under pressure, be able to make in-the-moment decisions when necessary, and work well with others. He or she should also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, have good communication skills, be creative, and be willing to not only manage but also do the necessary physical and logistical work required for events.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Overseeing the logistical production of official events, such as press conferences, town-hall style meetings, rallies, and a variety of photo opportunities;
• Briefing the Mayor and other senior administration officials prior to events;
• Traveling throughout NYC to advance the Mayor’s events;
• Working closely with the communications, press, community affairs, and intergovernmental affairs staff to ensure smooth preparation, staffing, and execution of events; and
• Liaising with venue managers, vendors, other government agencies, community members, and stakeholders as appropriate for event planning and production.

Commensurate with experience Salary Range $130,000 - $135,000

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning or at a political organization;
• Experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent organization and time management skills;
• Ability to work under pressure to complete multiple tasks, meet demands and deadlines with a positive, constructive attitude;
• Must possess excellent decision-making ability and proactively seek out solutions to problems;
• Must be a team-player and assist with all projects as required;
• Strong accounting, audit, financial management and financial analysis skills;

• Excellent organizational skills;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);
• Strong managerial and leadership skills with ability to manage and develop high-performing teams;
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and respond as required;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel;
• Ability to manage a heavy workload and perform effectively managing numerous significant responsibilities and challenges with competing priorities;
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license for at least 6 months and be comfortable driving in NYC.
• Candidates living outside New York State or New York City must be willing to obtain a New York driver’s license and New York City residency, if hired.
