NFIB is America’s leading small business advocate, with hundreds of thousands of members nationwide and offices in every state capital.  We are searching for a Director, Tax Policy to identify public policy challenges and opportunities related to taxation, and design and execute effective responses. The director will facilitate issue development and prioritization within NFIB, advocate NFIB positions ontax-related legislation and regulation, and participate in and/or lead industry stakeholder coalitions and other external programming to advance NFIB positions. Gathers, distills, and disseminates relevant information to the membership and the public at large. The ideal candidate will maintain, shape, and expand an effective political network on Capitol Hill (primarily, but not exclusively, with Senate offices/committees) and federal agencies in order to champion NFIB tax priorities. Thrives in a fast moving, issues-oriented environment.

Requirements

Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be able to work as a part of a cooperative team environment and independent of direct supervision; adhere to Company and Department policies and procedures. Performs additional projects as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree and seven (7) - ten (10) years of relevant experience, including a minimum of five (5) years of Capitol Hill experience.
  2. Detailed knowledge of federal tax policy, including legislative and regulatory processes.
  3. Experience working in or with the Senate, including technical knowledge of Senate rules and procedures.
  4. Strategic thinking capability, and an accompanying record of tactical implementation.
  5. Network of contacts consistent with level of experience.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational capabilities.
  7. Service orientation, superior integrity, and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and membership.
