The Government Relations Staff Assistant will report to the VP of Public Policy and Government Relations and provide administrative, research, and legislative support on a range of federal issues of interest to the company and our members. This role will involve attending hearings, tracking legislation, drafting communications and summary documents, and assisting with advocacy events and activities. 






  • Provide administrative support to department management team, managing outlook calendars, confidential files, and department databases.

  • Attend Congressional hearings including drafting summaries for manager and Vizient members.

  • Assists with legislative and regulatory research.

  • Work with colleagues located in D.C.and Dallas on communications regarding policy/advocacy efforts impacting our members.

  • Coordinates meeting logistics, including travel arrangements, hotels and catering

  • Assists with budgets, department databases, and operational reports. Perform other administrative duties as necessary including processing expense reports and invoices, maintaining office supplies, etc.




  • College degree preferred with up to three years of relevant experience

  • Health care policy experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent communication skills including written (punctuation, grammar, etc.), verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Internally motivated individual with a proven ability to work on projects with limited supervision

  • Strong competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with varying timelines

  • Willingness to learn new skills and competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and eager to take initiative

  • Must be self-directed and results-oriented with a strong ability to multi-task

  • Must possess strong political acumen and the ability to manage political sensitivities
