Depending on your technical area, you will be responsible for becoming a subject matter expert and go-to person for other members of your team. The environment is fast-paced and requires cross-functional interaction on a daily basis so good communication, planning and execution skills are a must. Qualcomm's Graphics System Team is responsible for the development of end to end and system on chip (SOC) architectural solutions for next generation of graphics processing units (GPUs) and compute devices. The Performance and Power team develops the necessary models and tools required to analyze the power and performance of these next gen architectures at various stages of development. Position Overview:
  • Develop innovative, low cost and low power architectures for next generation GPUs
  • Work with designers & architects to create a performance test plan for GPU HW based on new features.
  • Test planning includes identifying whether a perf feature will be covered with directed/handwritten tests or covered as part of existing tests/benchmarks
  • Write directed/handwritten tests along with theoretical targets
  • Analyze Graphics and Compute (such as Neural Networks) workloads to create a test-suite of smaller tests to be run in pre-Si simulations
  • Analyze Graphics and Compute (such as Neural Networks) benchmark performance on GPU HW,
  • Identifying perf bottlenecks and resolving the same through either HW or Driver or Compiler optimizations. This includes
  • Correlating the Performance of the Design with Performance Models
  • Identifying HW architecture limitations and working with HW architects to identify appropriate solutions
  • Understanding how application level API calls are being translated to GPU HW commands
  • Analyzing heavy graphics/compute shaders to aid compiler optimizations
  • Develop tools to identify/quantify performance bottlenecks efficiently
  • Correlate Pre-Si Performance on Design with Post Si
  • Give feedback to Architects to plan future GPU configurations based on Market Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience
  • Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications for this role as a GPU Performance Verification and Analysis Engineer
  • Solid understanding of CPU/GPU/SOC architecture/MicroArch
  • Fluent in one or more Graphics APIs OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan or Compute APIs OpenCL
  • 5+ years of Experience with Performance Verification on SOC/CPU/GPU
  • Familiarity with Verilog/System Verilog
  • Good with Scripting in Perl/Python
  • Familiarity with MMU/DDR Subsystems
  • Familiarity with GPU SW / 3D Graphics Drivers
  • Education Requirements Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
    Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
