The Department of Federal Affairs at the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare seeks an individual capable of handling a full range of delegated responsibilities and projects simultaneously to join busy team passionate about the mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The Legislative Assistant will assist with and provide support for Academy advocacy efforts to Congress, regulatory and judicial bodies, and to other advocacy groups; monitor and report on legislative and regulatory activities within the legislative portfolio; and represent the Academy at meetings with various interest groups and task forces, and child and health care coalitions.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, substantive knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, 2-3 years related experience in health or government arena required, Hill or association work desirable, and absolute factual reporting is essential.


The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is a membership organization of 66,000 pediatricians and approximately 450 staff committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.  The AAP promotes pediatrics and advances child health priorities by developing policy, conducting research, building coalitions, raising public awareness, funding community-based projects, and supporting training and professional education for our membership.
