Product Engineering Manager & Technical Lead




This is a lead engineering position responsible for the entire Product Engineering solution on next-generation AMD microprocessors. Leads product development groups efforts to characterize the product to customer specifications across the manufacturing population using DFX tools available. Serves as the primary technical point of contact to the business, design and product engineering teams. Work spans Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and System Level Test platforms to drive resolution of product issues including test HW, test SW, and device-specific IP. Part of a larger team that correlates the test solution to lab/manufacturing/customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness to product specifications.




  • Has responsibility for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas.
  • Solves complex, novel and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation.
  • Influences technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.
  • Influences others as a technical leader.




  • Accountable for results for a whole product or large project, as well as for management of interdependencies with related areas.
  • Leads as a consultant for large projects or product development initiatives.
  • Works with internal and external groups on behalf of the group or project.
  • Provides technical supervision/mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Generates publication(s) relevant to areas of expertise and is capable of presenting at technical conferences
  • Identifies and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationship with other departments.




  • Extensive experience in semiconductor product development.
  • ATE Subject Matter Expert: developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment.
  • Skilled at defining and validating a semiconductor devices performance.
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  • Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  • Debug experience in hardware, software, device, and/or manufacturing domains.
  • Generating publications relevant to areas of expertise.
  • Experience presenting at technical conferences.
  • Scripting languages (Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar).
  • Logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools.
  • Linux and/or Unix Operating Systems.
  • Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.
  • Experience presenting to Director level management internally.
  • Product/Project Management with 6-12 months durations.
  • Experience leading a 2-5-member project team.
  • Ability to interview and select new team members.
  • Experience with PC HW debug including networking, storage, and thermal control.
  • Experience with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, RCS or similar).
  • Experience with C++, Java, C, or C#.
  • Familiar with hardware description languages.
  • Courses or certifications in project management (PMI, LSS, AGILE).




B.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering in combination with directly related experience.
