Optical Sparse Aperture Imaging Scientist

Key Role:

Deliver Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a government Program Manager (PM). Provide technical support and expertise in the area of ground-based sparse aperture optical arrays toward the goal of imaging objects in geostationary orbit. Assimilate and integrate technical input from performers and analyze performers' technical deliverables and reports. Conduct technical writing, development or refinement of briefing materials, and other program documentation using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Conduct independent review and summary of technical literature and emerging technologies and participate in conferences and workshops regarding program technical areas. Develop and document testing methodology and protocols, ensuring they align with program technology components, assess performer results against program metrics, and coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks across multiple performers and performer continuous analysis of technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule.\\r

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with research in optical physics techniques, including interferometry, optical design, and ground-based astronomy

-2+ years of experience with program management of research programs

-Experience with sparse aperture imaging and image reconstruction

-Experience with detecting weak signals in a cluttered environment

-Knowledge of Fourier optics

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-MS degree required\\r

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with optical manufacturing preferred

-Experience with fiber communications preferred

-Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks proactively

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, write concisely, leverage persuasive speaking or writing expertise, and convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise accurately

-MS degree in Physics, Mathematics, Optics, Imaging Science, or relevant Engineering field preferred; PhD degree in Physics, Mathematics, Optics, Imaging Science, or relevant Engineering field a plus\\r

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
