Public Affairs Coordinator

American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) seeks a Public Affairs Coordinator to support the management and operations within the Public Affairs team. This position will assist with content development, organizing events, and tracking team metrics, as well as provide administrative support to leadership. The Public Affairs Coordinator will report to the Vice President, Public Affairs and will coordinate and collaborate closely with teams within the Government & Public Affairs department (Regulatory & Policy, State Affairs, Research & Analytics, and Federal Affairs).

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for VP (e.g. managing the VP’s schedule, travel, completing and submitting expense reports, etc.).
  • Coordinate external events vetting process for PA.
  • Facilitate team coordination, management and operation (e.g. budgeting, cross-team vetting of external contracts, sponsorships, developing meeting agenda enduring follow-up, organizing/maintaining files).
  • Ensure GPA compliance with AWEA internal management processes and deadlines
  • Assist with member correspondence
  • Assist with content development and provide editorial review of department work products, as needed (e.g. documents, member updates, presentations)
  • Plan and execute special projects to support strategic plan execution and/or member engagement.
  • Compile reports including working across departments to gather necessary information, provide input on formatting and content, review and edit content, and identify efficiencies in report generation.
  • Arrange event logistics.
  • Use project management software to help organize projects and contribute to communications Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist the Public Affairs Department with member communications and departmental management such as: weekly board reports; vendor and intern supervision; timely invoice submittals; maintaining master calendars and other administrative functions as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Requirements include strong oral, written and interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to be extremely organized, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines; an ability to identify problems, research alternatives and resolve them; good judgment and intuition; strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; the ability to develop, manage and/or revamp projects independently; the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously (managing competing priorities); and the ability to adapt and respond quickly to change. Ability to work collaboratively with others. Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures and ability to perform functions with independent judgment. Proficiency with MS Office suite. Supportive approach to situations and a positive team member. Receives guidance on new assignments but normally works independently on mastered tasks.

 

AWEA is a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high work demands under tight timelines with sometimes fluctuating priorities.

 

Education and/or Experience
