The Risk Communication Manager will be responsible for enhancing and managing the overall communication strategy for the Risk Organization. The person will be responsible for ensuring that Risk Managements vision, priorities and key initiatives / efforts are well-understood within the Risk Organization, across other units (e.g. businesses & other functions) as well as externally, where appropriate.

The Communications Manager is expected to have a strong background working within a Financial Services discipline and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This individual will champion programs and initiatives in support of the goals outlined by the Chief Risk Officer of Citigroup, and provide advisory and organizational support to the Risk Organization from a communications perspective.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a team that is expected to respond quickly and effectively to multiple high priority initiatives. The role requires an individual to build and maintain excellent working relationships within the Risk Organization as well as other functions (e.g. Citigroup Public Affairs) and the firm broadly. They should be accustomed to working independently under tight deadlines without compromising quality.


The Risk Governance function within the Chief Operating Office of Independent Risk Management is responsible for designing and facilitating the execution of core Risk frameworks and processes (e.g., Risk Governance and Risk Appetite Frameworks), facilitating the execution of key processes that enable monitoring and management of risks (i.e., Product Approvals), associated stakeholder interaction (e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Board) and as well as the oversight and execution of critical strategic and cross-Risk initiatives (Risk Strategy & Operations).

The Risk Communication Manager will have a direct reporting line to the Head of Risk Strategy & Operations. This strategy and operations team is responsible for connecting the dots across Risk silos, and aligning them to the overarching priorities / goals defined by the Independent Risk Management leadership. The team is directly responsible for developing and implementing strategic solutions for optimal organizational alignment including budget, headcount and location strategy initiatives. The team also runs development programs and executes cross-risk strategic initiatives at the request of the Risk Chief Operating Officer, Risk Chief Operating Officer / Head of Governance and/or Risk Management Executive Council.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop the vision and effective execution model for Risk Communications strategy
  • Drive Risk communications (write / edit / review) by leveraging common mediums for organizational directives including, but not limited to, Risk organizational announcements
  • Re-design and manage Citi Risk website which includes development of new content and updates from subject matter experts
  • Organize and develop content for Citi Risks Global Town Hall meetings
  • Prepare Citi Risk newsletters to disseminate information to all of Citis Global Risk Colleagues
  • Organize, develop & prepare materials (presentations / talking points) for the CRO of Citigroup and the Risk Management Executive Council to use during internal and external meetings.
  • Complete reviews of ad hoc presentations within the Risk organization by partnering with Subject Matter Experts and being able bridge multiple concepts / themes together.
  • Ad hoc initiatives to support an effective and robust communications model within Risk Management


  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Journalism or Communications preferred
  • 7+ years experience in communications. Experience in the financial services industry highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated business writing ability and overall communication skills. Ability to communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience including senior management.
  • Experience in website management, particularly CMS (Content Management System) is a plus.
  • Project Management Skills, including the ability to manage small to medium size projects.
  • Flexibility to handle a variety of topics with excellent verbal and written interface skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work / partner with colleagues at all levels in the organization on a global basis.
  • Highly competent and experienced at multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrate integrity and sound/independent judgement along with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently with a mix of self-direction and guidance.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to improve Citigroup and the Risk Organization.
  • Displays a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to meet tight deadlines using sound prioritization and judgement.
