Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is seeking a Senior VP to manage government affairs/national relations. Position is located in the DOE’s Headquarters building and serves as WAPA’s liaison in Washington, DC.
Serves in the role of a Senior VP for Government Affairs and Relations for the Western Area Power Administration, a federal power marketing administration within the US Department of Energy, leading Congressional engagement and interaction, serving as WAPA’s liaison within the DOE at all levels, to OMB and other agencies and entities, and building and maintaining strong working relationships with national trade and industry associations including the American Public Power Association and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Develops and executes WAPA’s national relations and government affairs strategy, and collaborates with WAPA’s senior executive team. Participate as a full member of WAPA’s senior team, including annual travel to WAPA’s regional offices in Folsom, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Loveland, Colorado; Billings, Montana or Watertown/Huron, South Dakota, and our Headquarters in Lakewood, Colorado. Officially titled Assistant Administrator for Corporate Liaison, this Senior VP position supports business line activities, such as electric power marketing, ratemaking, and integration into wholesale electricity markets, by coordinating and securing DOE and Congressional approvals and support. Reports directly to the Administrator and CEO of WAPA.
