The School of Communication (SOC) at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Public Communication Division beginning as early as August 1, 2018.


We are seeking candidates in the field of strategic communication or political communication with a demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: applied data analytics, communication campaign design, public-purpose media strategies, and social-impact storytelling.

The committee will place a priority on candidates with a record of high-quality scholarship (research, professional and/or creative) and a strong potential for ongoing high-impact work.  A record of teaching excellence and demonstrated success securing external funding are also preferred.

The committee will place a priority on candidates with an advanced degree, professional or applied experience in the field, and a record that documents the significance and impact of their work.
